Do you buy regularly through Amazon? If so, register with the Amazon Smile scheme to support EssexSAR, and Amazon donates to us 0.5% of the purchase price of most items you buy (some exclusions apply).
To qualify, all purchases have to be made through smile.amazon.co.uk, rather than the main Amazon site, but otherwise all your account details (including Amazon Prime membership) remain unchanged. You will need to know your Amazon login details (email and password). Once logged in to the Smile website, you will be asked to nominate which charity you want to support – search for and select Essex Search & Rescue, and that’s it! There’s absolutely no cost to you.
If you normally shop with Amazon via mobile device, the Amazon Android app is also compatible with the Smile scheme, but the iOS (Apple) app is not. However, if you normally use the Amazon app on your Apple device, please see the instructions below which allow you to simply “replace” your Amazon app with a shortcut (which looks just like the app) direct to the Smile website.
- If you have the Amazon App installed, please remove it. To do this, tap and hold the app icon until it starts to jiggle. Tap the cross at the top left of the icon and confirm that you want to delete it. Don’t worry, this will not delete your Amazon account or any of your settings.
- Now load Safari (the iPhone internet browser) and go to smile.amazon.co.uk. Login with your normal Amazon account details (and select EssexSAR as your charity of choice if not already done).
- Tap the ‘share’ button on the bottom of the screen.
4. Tap the ‘Add to Home Screen’ icon. You may need to swipe to the left or right to see this.
You will now have an Amazon Smile icon on your home screen which you can use in exactly the same way you used the Amazon App.
Better than donating cash for some. If you want to directly purchase an item for us, we have made a Wish List of many things we really need – both “one off” items, and items we use and have to replace on a regular basis.
With very small to larger items, it’s easy for you to get involved. Anything you buy is delivered directly to us, so there’s nothing else for you to do!
