Joining Essex Search and Rescue

If you are interested in joining Essex Search and Rescue, the first step is to express an interest in becoming a Missing Person (MISPER). You do not have to be a member to act as a Missing Person. Please contact us via the following email address for further information: mispers@essexsar.org.uk

If you wish to join the team as a searcher, please be aware that we only recruit at specific times. Recruitment normally takes place once a year and is dependent upon when new recruits are needed. We do not accept applications outside of these periods. When recruitment is open, this will be clearly advertised on our Facebook and Instagram pages, so please keep an eye out for our posts.

When recruitment opens, those interested will be invited to attend an information evening. This provides an opportunity to learn more about the role and ask questions. If you remain interested after attending, you will then be invited to progress with an application.
